I've been backpacking and world traveling for many-many years and have a whole set of "fish scales" for weighing my items that weigh from a few ounces to 20 pounds. When I needed a scale with a 50-pound range for complete backpacks and airline luggage I opted for the Berkley 50 lb scale. It works great, with 1 oz resolution, and is pretty accurate. When I first bought my unit, my wife took it to work and used her professional calibration weights to check its accuracy. Mine was dead-on at 5 pounds, high by 1 oz at 15 pounds, and high by 2 oz at 40 pounds. Yours will likely be different, but I consider that very good for a $20 scale and more than adequate for my needs. Also, the handle is big and comfortable enough to easily lift 50 pounds and the hook works fine for lifting things. Used it also (very carefully) to weigh my nephew's new born. Probably, also works for fish. -- Top notch scale for travelers and backpackers
Love this fish scale! Decent price and works great! VERY durable and easy to read #'s! -- Fish Scale-4 Stars
Note Simone's review a few down, they dont know how to use this scale, the hook is to hang the fish on BY ITS GILLS, you dont gouge the hook through the fish! Notice how the hook ISNT sharp, its DULL. I can think of something else a little dull right now. -- Hey Simone, DONT GOUGE IT THROUGH THE FISH!
Yes, it's inexpensive and accurate, but the batteries don't last long.
Even during periods of non-use, the batteries seem to drain.
I blame the designer for using CR2032 batteries (typically $3-$10 each), vs., for example, AA batteries, which cost about 50 cents in small quantities. AA batteries typically have 10 times the life of CR2032s. (CR2032s usually are rated around 220 mAh, while alkaline AAs are often over 2500 mAh.)

So it's a nice scale, but don't leave it in your tackle box for a few months and expect it to work. Keep some extra CR2032s handy. -- Stock up on CR2032 batteries...
I am a fisherman, but I bought this scale to use mostly for weighing packages. I'm an avid eBayer and this scale works great. It is very accurate and repeatable. It serves my purposes perfectly and I've been using it for about 5 months now. For the price, you just can't beat it. Similar range shipping scales cost at least 3 or 4 times as much. -- Accurate, Repeatable, Usable
